2018 CSU World Unity Fair

In March 2018, MiHEC was at the 64th annual World Unity Fair at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. MiHEC board members and volunteers enjoyed stamping kids’ “passports” and talking with fair goers about the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and MiHEC’s mission “to reduce social injustice and poverty, to improve health, and to enhance availability of education” in vulnerable communities.

Below are photos from the event. Thanks to those who stopped by. Also, a special thanks to volunteers Amber Lambright and Chrevine Tuyishimire for helping MiHEC at the fair!

Here is a video that Chrevine made of the event:

Colorado State University also took some photos as well, which you can view here.

To learn more in depth about the DRC and MiHEC’s vision and programs, please attend one of our future presentations in April!

  • Tuesday, April 10, 2018, 7 p.m.: MiHEC will give a presentation about the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Fort Collins Old Town Library.

December 2017 Shipment to DRC

Packing Boxes for Shipment to DRC

On December 16, 2017, MiHEC board members (Julia and Tina) in Fort Collins, Colorado (USA) packed seven plastic bins of donated children’s goods, medical supplies, and school supplies for shipment to the Kimbondo Orphanage and Hospital in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

You can see what were some of the items MiHEC shipped in the photos below. They were loaded into a shipping container in Denver, Colorado.

The shipping container should reach Kinshasa by April 2018, where it will be distributed to the Kimbondo Orphanage and Hospital.

Next Shipment

MiHEC wants to make another shipment of medical, school supplies and other necessities to Congo again soon. Each x-large box will cost $125.

Please make a donation of $20, $30 or more. Alternatively, please consider making a donation of children’s clothing. Together we can save orphans’ lives and make a difference in this world. God Bless!!!

June 2017 Visit to DRC

In June 2017, MiHEC’s founder and president Tina Salumu visited the Democratic Republic of Congo for a couple of weeks. This is what she did or reported:

  • Tina visited the Kimbondo Hospital & Orphanage in Kinshasa and helped distribute medical supplies that MiHEC shipped over (and were subsequently stored) in late 2016.
  • Tina met with the medical director and other employees at the Kabinda Hospital in Kinshasa. The medical director said that some doctors are even dying at the hospital due to contracted illnesses.
  • The Mother and Child Center would like large overhead surgical lights and doctors’ clothing in short sleeves since it is hot over there. Kate suggested that MiHEC get them at least a couple things they would like on their list.
  • Tina’s cousin made a lot of sample table cloths, bags, clutches, etc., out of colorful fabrics and Tina paid her for them. These are items MiHEC can put on display during events and fundraisers.

Below are photos and videos from her trip.

Please consider helping by volunteering at or donating to MiHEC!
