In June 2017, MiHEC’s founder and president Tina Salumu visited the Democratic Republic of Congo for a couple of weeks. This is what she did or reported:
- Tina visited the Kimbondo Hospital & Orphanage in Kinshasa and helped distribute medical supplies that MiHEC shipped over (and were subsequently stored) in late 2016.
- Tina met with the medical director and other employees at the Kabinda Hospital in Kinshasa. The medical director said that some doctors are even dying at the hospital due to contracted illnesses.
- The Mother and Child Center would like large overhead surgical lights and doctors’ clothing in short sleeves since it is hot over there. Kate suggested that MiHEC get them at least a couple things they would like on their list.
- Tina’s cousin made a lot of sample table cloths, bags, clutches, etc., out of colorful fabrics and Tina paid her for them. These are items MiHEC can put on display during events and fundraisers.
Below are photos and videos from her trip.
